March 17th is almost here and it’s time to get festive! But this time, things are a little different and we’ll be celebrating St Patrick’s Day from home. At The Flag Shop, though, that’s not going to stop us from having a great time. Nor will it stop us from digging into some seasonal fare, marking the date with a cascade of green and washing it all down with a Guinness.

Because we love St Paddy’s Day as much as you do, we’ve gone all out with the ideas this March. Here are some of our favourite ways to make our own fun - so you can throw a fun and exciting St Patrick’s Day 2021 party with a twist!

Indoor Pub Crawl!

Nothing beats a brew on St Paddy’s Day and just because you’re staying indoors, you certainly don’t have to go without!

Ordinarily, we’d head out with friends to our favourite pubs, but jazzing up the kitchen to look just like one of your local Irish haunts can be the next best thing. With bar coasters, Giant Ireland bunting, pub signs and those novelty shot glasses you never use, your kitchen or living room can feel just like a buzzing brewery or a rustic Cork inn. Except this time, you don’t need to wait for ages to get service! An even more exciting way to turn your home into a St Patrick’s Day party hotspot is by getting everyone involved. Turning every room into a different favourite watering hole St Paddy’s Day style is as easy as decorating the walls with gorgeous St Patrick’s Cross Bunting, peppering your makeshift bar with Ireland Table Flags and all getting dressed up in whatever costume or outfit you’d like.  Then start bar-hopping from one Irish-themed pub to the next!

Host a Zoom Party

This March 17th, we’ll be getting The Flag Shop together, except this time - we’ll be on Zoom!

Organising a Zoom party is as simple as choosing a theme, setting up a meeting room and inviting all the gang to join in. To make it a real party and not just another meeting, you might want to tuck into your festive fare together (Guinness pies, anyone?) or break out the whiskey cocktails!  Set the theme for your event by livening up your living room with a Happy St Patrick’s Day flag for the background and for an even more exciting touch, send your friends Shamrock Hand Waving Flags so that you can feel like you’re celebrating together!

If you’ll be at the dinner table, decorate with a creative centrepiece of Irish Table Flags or St Patrick’s Cross Table Flags and of course, a little local fare. Or even better, design your own party flag to mark St Patrick’s Day 2021!

Get your Irish Cinema On

You may think you’ve seen everything on Netflix by now, but what about those timeless gems from the Emerald Isle?

While travel may be out of the question, for now, getting wrapped up in an Irish flick with the family might be just what you need to feel at home.  Get creative and turn your St Patrick’s Day Film night into an outdoor cinema, which is a fun way to involve the whole house. Decorate your backyard with festive Shamrock Bunting - just like you’d see lining the streets of Dublin - pop some corn and settle in for a night of travel via Netflix. Some of our favourites include The Commitments, a hilarious flick about a hapless Dublin rock band and anything with Liam Neeson for a little bit of action!

Send a Hamper

Spending St Patrick’s Day away from the family? It may not be the real deal, but sending a thoughtful gift to arrive on the day can make up somewhat for not being together.

Why not send your own St Paddy’s Day hamper to those who can’t make it to your at-home festivities, full of personalized presents? With a Custom Irish Flag, they can decorate along with you via Zoom and with exciting St Patrick’s Day Bunting, they can throw a fun party of their very own! Themed biscuits, chocolates and photos of the family are more great ideas to include in your festive hamper - but at the end of the day, it’s down to whatever you think will make your loved one smile. What about some Baileys, or a table flag to spruce up their at-home office?

By now, we’re well and truly experts at making our own festive fun. And there’s no reason you can’t join in too! With everything you need to decorate your own Irish pub, tune in for a movie night, or even hold your own themed and fully festooned party, there’s nothing stopping you from giving St Patrick’s Day your own fun twist. So make it a March to remember!
